PDC Bit is a new type drill bit use in water well drilling and oil gas exploration when compared with Tricone Bit. Tungsten carbide tricone bit is mainly use for hole drilling in hard formation but drilling speed is very slow. PDC bit has fast drilling footage speed in soft to medium hard formation.
PDC bit IADC is composed of 4 digits,
A. The first digit reference the bit body type:
M is matrix body; S is steel body; D is diamond;
B. The second digit indicates the degree of formation
1 indicates very soft
2 indicates soft
3 indicates soft to medium
4 indicates medium
6 indicates medium hard
7 indicates hard
C. The thrid digit means the cutting teeth structure
1 is cutting teeth more than 19mm
2 is cutting teeth within 13mm~19mm
3 is cutting teeth within 8~13mm
4 is cutting teeth less than 8mm
D. The forth digit reference the drill bit profile
1 is short fishtail
2 is short profile
3 is medium profile
4 is long profile
