The best way to pick a PDC bit is to match it to the formation and the drilling plan rather than to buy on price alone. For soft ground and fast water well work, choose a 3-blade bit with an aggressive profile. For medium-hard and abrasive formations, move to a 4-blade or matrix body design that keeps the bit stable and wears more slowly.
